Wedding Design {Jessica + Derek}

Hurray! It’s time to post Jessica and Derek’s lovely wedding photos by Griffin Photography. The big day took place at The Vineyards at Garden Ridge. I had the privilege to create a wedding design based on a few things the bride loved: flowers in wooden boxes and a romantic, rustic aesthetic. Lots of family and friends helped us pull off all the design projects, which I think gave the event a sweet, handcrafted feel. Barbie Foerster created all the beautiful florals and I think they fit the vision quite perfectly! Our pal Lauren of The Creative Parasol designed the wedding stationary, including the save the date, invitation, program, and thank-you-kindly stamp for favor bags. See end of post for the team of vendors that helped execute the perfect day for Jessica and Derek!

Happy birthday to the bird dog, Penny Lane!

A lot of people ask why I named my business Bird Dog Wedding.

For two reasons:

1. In hunting (and, no, I’m not an avid hunter by any means), to “bird dog” something means to send your dog to track and find whatever you’re hunting. So, I apply this term to my wedding design. I hunt for the perfect wedding inspiration and design for each and every client, with the passion and tenacity of a bird dog ;).

2. The major reason, however, is my little bird dog, Penny Lane, the Brittany. She never ceases to inspire me with her quirkiness, loyalty, and overall sweet disposition. She brings a lot of joy to my life, and I decided to dedicate my business’s name to her.

So now that you all think I’m a little crazy, I’d like to wish a very happy birthday to my girl! May many squirrels cross her path today.

Client Love {Alison + Brent}

Howdy! I am so, so excited for this June wedding at Star Hill Ranch. Alison, the bride to be, is a talented artist and handcrafted her lovely invitations as well as many other day-of graphic details. I swear I have the coolest clients!

For now, I wanted to give y’all a sneak peek of their design inspiration. They love natural elements juxtaposed against geometric shapes. And a relaxed, outdoors atmosphere. I can’t wait to see it all come together on their big day.

Sometimes you just get wrapped up in things! In the midst of buying a home, planning and designing weddings for amazing clients, and just living life, one forgets to post on their blog from time to time. Well, hopefully it won’t happen too often.

Anyway, we decided to give ourselves some props for receiving a bit of blog love this spring.

Happy One Year to Us!

Today, we’re celebrating the one year anniversary of Matt and I (not the blog). Matt is one of the most genuine, caring, sweet, fun-loving, funny guys I’ve had the pleasure to have known. He’s my number one supporter and best friend. Everyday is an adventure we are lucky to share. I love you, babe!

April 9, 2011 was the best day of our lives and we got to cement our union in the eyes of the law (by the GREAT state of Texas). We had such a blast celebrating with our friends and family as you can probably tell.

Our design was bright and colorful bier garten.

So. Much. Fun. Enjoy these beautiful photos by Paige Newton Photography!

Workin’ It {TEHA 2012}

Hey, all! I wanted to give you a little taste of the tablescape and other materials I designed for the Texas Belles Texas Event and Hospitality Affair (TEHA) in March at one of our favorite venues, Mercury Hall. The Texas Belles, University of Texas at Austin’s event planning organization, select their favorite industry folks to participate in TEHA so we were quite honored to be asked!

We love to collaborate with all the talented vendors in Austin so we brought on a few of friends to carry out our design vision – including Loot Vintage Rentals, Rosehip Flora, and The Creative Parasol.

I hope you enjoy our space as much as we did!

We got there early to set up!

Want to see how a magical moss runner is created? See the talented work of Erin from Rosehip Flora below:

Our finished tablescape included precious table and chairs from Loot Vintage Rentals and Bird Dog Wedding Bunting we made:
So everyone could see a little more what Bird Dog Wedding is all about, I created a real-life “pinboard” of my design work. Also had biz cards from my team of vendors and paper fans as favors for those attending.

And there you have it!

We had so much fun putting this design together for TEHA. It was very much Bird Dog Wedding meets Mercury Hall – rustic and whimsical and colorful – all at the same time. Hurray!

Entwined 2012 {Rehearsal Dinner Invitations}

Remember how we’re designing a super cute/colorful/French/boutique-y rehearsal dinner for Annie and Tyler, the winners of the HUGE Entwined wedding weekend giveaway? Ok, good! Well, yesterday, The Creative Parasol guest posted on Entwined’s blog with a wonderful preview of the rehearsal dinner invitations they designed. They turned out so incredibly well. Lauren is just so talented and I love our brains when we get together. I’m absolutely thrilled about the result and Annie and Tyler were, too! Check them out, folks!

Wedding Design {Lori + Nathan}

Oh, man! Where do I begin…It was SO fun helping design this wedding and there were many reasons for that. Number one being that this was my best friend’s wedding!! And, I was the matron of honor – hurray! And, I got to spend so much quality fun time with family and friends along the way – bonus!
Lori and Nathan put on an eclectic, colorful garden fiesta that played with vintage and modern elements – in turn, producing a totally unique wedding that reflected their fun-loving personalities. The San Antonio Botanical Garden provided the perfect setting for this magical day. This wedding turned out so beautifully that Style Me Pretty Texas featured it!
Katherine O’Brien Photography snapped these amazing photos.
Girls getting ready. Lori wore beautiful Kate Spade Clume wedges and a gorgeous Modern Trousseau gown from Unbridaled in Austin. Pretty make-up by Nisa Nicole Makeup Artistry.
The Creative Parasol designed the program fans and Eden’s Echo arranged all the flowers.

Bouquets featured dahlias, ranunculus, billy balls, hypericum berries, scabiosa pods, snapdragon, hydrangeas, and roses to name a few. So pretty!
For favors, Lori and Nathan gave guests succulents from Nature’s Herb Farm in baby jars. Table elements: flowers arranged by Eden’s Echo in a mix of vintage vessels collected by the bride, groom, family, and friends; framed table numbers by The Creative Parasol; and green/cream and gold/cream chevron table runners sewn by a friend. Each table was a little different than the next!

This precious little teapot was found at Max’s Haus Mercantile in New Braunfels.
Table assignments by The Creative Parasol. Lots of vintage goodies. g(room) and b(ride) letters from Anthropologie.

Lori and Nathan’s ceremony overlooked the Lucile Halsell Conservatory at the Garden. Aisle poms made by your’s truly!

Workin’ my aisle pom magic. Billy balls, hypericum berries, and greenery for the groom’s boutonniere. Pretty head table layout.

Gorgeous Lori in the arbor area. Bridesmaids with program fans. More table layout.

Tables in the fountain plaza. Bride behind the honeycomb garland (your’s truly). Bride’s Omi’s ring (her something blue – so sweet).
Ceremony captured in the pond’s reflection. Mr. and Mrs. Dimmitt!!!! Honeycombs!
The happy couple!

Wedding party letting loose after the ceremony! Girls in shades of green, cream, and yellow. Boys in blue seersucker.
Wedding sign by the bride’s brother. Honeycombs, again! Beautiful bride and groom.
Dessert table with vintage cake stands, platters, and bowls. Pretty and delicious cakes by Ayon’s Bakery. Brownies and cookies by friends and family.
Succulents all ready for guests to take!
Bride and bridesmaids crafted ribbon wands to send off the bride and groom! Here I am showing you how to wave it :).
Lori and Nathan making their grand exit! What a celebration!
A few Holga shots from Katherine O’ Brien
What I love most about this wedding is how family, friends, and vendors came together to pull off a vision. The collaboration between those three parties not only makes a wedding look amazing, but makes it  meaningful to the couple.
Congratulations, Lori and Nathan! I love you guys! Thank you for including me in your special day.
